Railay West

Open-beach boarding

Depending on conditions, passengers may walk through shallow water and climb into a long-tail boat from the sand. This is manageable with sandals and a small bag, but less pleasant with rigid luggage, a pushchair or formal shoes. Railay West

West-side accommodation commands the strongest sunset and beach position. Railay Bay Resort states that it spans both east and west coasts and is accessible only by boat.[18] Sand Sea Resort also describes a west-to-east footprint, which can make it useful for travellers who want west-beach access without being isolated from the east pier.[19]

Railay East

Four nights in Ao Nang and three in Railay provide enough time to notice the difference between the bases. Ao Nang can hold two outings and one flexible day. Which order is better?

Ao Nang first is usually better because the airport arrival is easier and the active tours can be completed before moving. Railay last creates a scenic finish. A phone forecast may show rain without explaining waves or thunderstorms. 3. Booking “Railay” without checking East or West

Railay East and West serve different purposes. East is practical for arrivals and can offer value; West provides the classic sand and sunset. Read the map and room location before paying.

Choose Railay when the peninsula itself is the experience. Two or three nights can add quiet mornings, sunset, climbing and easy access to Phra Nang without turning every visit into a return-boat calculation. The premium is most worthwhile when you will use those hours, not merely sleep there between full-day tours.

With five to seven nights, the best combined plan is normally Ao Nang first and Railay last. Complete the complicated arrival and broader outings from the mainland, then finish with a lighter bag and a slower pace. However, there is no prize for changing hotels. When one base clearly suits the group, stay there and visit the other.
