Final recommendation

For a first Khao Sok visit, I would use three days and two nights: one night in the village, one night on Cheow Lan Lake and a conservative onward connection after the dawn programme. That order gives the forest and lake separate space without turning the trip into a sequence of rushed pickups.

Book the lake package first. Confirm the pier, boat, bathroom, power, meals, activities, fees and return time in writing. Next, place the village or pier hotel beside the correct pickup and arrange transport to the exact zone. Keep one village activity flexible, carry a small waterproof overnight bag and let the guide change a cave or trail when the weather requires it.

Khao Sok is not the easiest stop in Thailand, which is part of its appeal. Once the two-zone logistics are solved, the trip becomes much simpler: a river or forest afternoon, a longtail boat through the karsts, a quiet night on the water and a dawn journey before the next part of the holiday.
