Bangkok Nightlife Guide for First-Time Visitors
Food, music, rooftops and a journey home that is planned before the night begins.
Written and researched by Karen Taylor | Last editorial review: 4 October 2026
A useful Bangkok nightlife guide starts with the evening you actually want, not a checklist of famous bars. Dinner under Chinatown’s neon, a seated jazz performance and a late club night are different outings. Trying to squeeze them into one journey usually leaves less time for the thing you came to enjoy.
For a first visit, choose one neighbourhood, one main event and a straightforward journey back. This research-led guide compares those decisions rather than claiming every venue has been personally visited. The recommendations favour clear admission arrangements, manageable travel and alternatives for people who do not drink.
Bangkok rewards a little preparation: the correct shoes, a realistic meeting point and a saved hotel address can matter more than finding a fashionable venue. Equally, a rooftop that appears in an old list may not currently be operating. The dated checks below separate official information from suggested spending allowances and sample evening plans.

Bangkok nightlife guide: choose the experience first
A good night does not need five stops
Start with a simple question: would you rather talk, listen, eat or dance? Conversation suits a restaurant or seated bar. Listening needs an actual music programme and a seat with a decent view of the performers. Eating works best when you can move slowly between nearby places. Dancing deserves an evening organised around the club’s event, entry rules and journey home.
Next, agree what counts as a successful finish. A couple catching an early flight may want to be back before midnight. Friends staying locally might prefer a later night. Neither plan is more authentic. The wrong choice is committing to a late event when half the group already knows it will be exhausted.
How these recommendations were selected
The area comparisons below are editorial planning judgements, not a measured ranking of popularity or safety. They weigh the type of evening, transport complexity, likely noise and the need for advance arrangements. Named venues illustrate a particular experience; commercial links are comparison tools rather than guarantees of availability or quality.
Keep your first evening deliberately easy after a long flight. Have dinner, see how you feel and leave space to extend it. Paying for several non-refundable activities before you have adjusted to the heat and time difference removes that useful flexibility.
Match the neighbourhood to your night
Treat the map as a set of small outings
Sukhumvit is a long road, not a single compact nightlife district. A hotel near Asok does not make every Thonglor venue a short stroll away. Likewise, the label riverside can refer to properties on opposite banks with very different access. Save the actual entrance of the place you intend to visit, not merely the neighbourhood name.
For a first comparison, use the table as a shortlist rather than a verdict. The easiest choice often starts with your accommodation: an appealing dinner close to your hotel may beat a supposedly essential bar across town. Look at where the evening ends, because that is when energy and transport options are most likely to be reduced.
| Area | Choose it for | Arrival approach | Main compromise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lower Sukhumvit | A restaurant and a bar in one outing | BTS access, then a checked walk to the venue | Busy roads and very different atmospheres between sois |
| Silom and Sathorn | Seated drinks, selected rooftops and music | Rail to the relevant station; sometimes a final car ride | Tall hotel buildings do not all sit beside the same station |
| Chinatown | Food-led exploring and smaller venues | MRT Wat Mangkon for the main Yaowarat area | Crowds, kerbs and some outdoor walking |
| Banglamphu and Khao San | A busy backpacker-oriented evening | Road transport or an earlier boat connection | No direct BTS stop at Khao San Road |
| Riverside | Dinner, a performance or a booked cruise | The named pier or hotel entrance | Different boats have different last services |
Make the last leg visible
Before agreeing a meeting point, check whether the route involves stairs, a footbridge or a long lane. A walking estimate made in daylight may be a poor fit for someone in smart shoes during a downpour. Those details are not reasons to avoid going out; they help you choose the right transport from the start.
Sukhumvit: the convenient mixed evening
Choose a small part of the road
Lower Sukhumvit works well when the group wants dinner followed by a choice of nearby bars. However, decide which station and which side street you are using. Nana, Asok and more easterly areas should not be treated as interchangeable addresses, especially when arranging a pickup.
An uncomplicated plan is to book dinner within a comfortable walk of the main evening venue. Leave time between the two rather than expecting a restaurant to complete several courses to an exact deadline. People who finish early can enjoy an unhurried drink; those running late are not immediately losing an expensive admission.
Check the event, not just the name
A venue can feel different on a quiet weekday, a guest-DJ night or a private-event evening. Look for a dated programme and ask whether entry is walk-in, ticketed or attached to a table booking. A listing showing a broad category such as nightlife does not settle those practical details.
Book a table only after understanding the spending commitment. Ask whether a deposit is deducted from the bill, whether a minimum applies to the whole table or each guest, and what happens when fewer people turn up. A smaller group should not inherit a large group’s spending promise by accident.
Silom and Sathorn: different versions of a night out
Do not reduce the area to one street
Silom and neighbouring Sathorn can suit a restaurant evening, a hotel bar or a livelier social night. Start from the exact venue rather than assuming that every place described as Silom has the same atmosphere. A rooftop in a hotel tower and a street-level bar serve different expectations.
Around the main rail connections, a relatively short first journey can still leave a final walk across a major road or down a side street. Inspect that last stretch before you go. Travellers who need a step-free arrival should ask about the actual entrance and lift route, not only the nearest station.
Choose a base for sleep as well as access
When booking accommodation, check recent room comments for music and street noise rather than relying on the neighbourhood label. Ask whether a quieter room faces away from an entertainment frontage. An upper floor may help in some buildings but is not a promise of soundproofing.
This is particularly worthwhile for mixed-interest groups. Staying within reach of an evening out allows one person to return earlier without everyone changing plans. Agree that possibility in advance, with separate keys and a safe return arrangement, instead of making the group negotiate it on a pavement late at night.
Chinatown: make food the main event
A flexible alternative to a bar crawl
Chinatown suits a first evening when food and street atmosphere matter more than a late finish. Arrive hungry enough to share several dishes but not so hungry that you join the first long queue without looking around. Choose a short walking circuit and allow an indoor stop if the weather changes.
A guided food walk can help with unfamiliar ordering and the sequence of stops. Nevertheless, check the walking distance, group size and dietary arrangements before booking. A guide cannot make a shared cooking surface suitable for every allergy, and a vegetarian substitution is not the same as an allergy-safe meal.
Leave room to change direction
Keep one or two food priorities rather than a list of ten compulsory dishes. Stalls can sell out, queues vary and some businesses follow their own closing days. A recommendation should lead you towards an area, not force you to wait in discomfort for one particular plate.
Where you stop for a drink afterwards is a separate decision. Check the entrance and address carefully, especially where similarly named streets or venues exist elsewhere in Bangkok. When everyone is ready to leave, move to a sensible pickup location without blocking a shop doorway or stepping into moving traffic.
Khao San and Banglamphu: know the noise trade-off
Go for the atmosphere you enjoy
A busy backpacker street can be fun when loud music, casual food and a sociable crowd are the point. It is less suitable for an intimate conversation or a group needing an easy seated evening. Consider visiting early for a look, then choosing whether to stay rather than making a whole night compulsory.
Banglamphu is broader than the main entertainment strip. A restaurant or guesthouse described as near Khao San can have a very different setting from a room directly above late music. Read the map and recent reviews together before booking somewhere to sleep.
Plan the departure before the party
Do not assume there will be a useful rail stop beside the street. Work out a road-transport pickup and save it while you have a clear view of the surroundings. A few minutes spent finding an accessible, well-lit meeting point can prevent confusion when the group separates among the crowds.
Keep an independent way home even when joining a social activity. A bar crawl’s final stop, finish time or transport arrangement may not suit you. Ask what is included and leave when you are ready rather than feeling obliged to continue because you paid for the evening.
Rooftop bars: views, weather and the real bill
Check whether the rooftop is actually open
Banyan Tree’s official page stated that Vertigo and Moon Bar were temporarily closed for renovation, with reopening planned for 2 December 2026, when checked on 4 October. Do not treat an older roundup or a general opening-hours panel as proof of current operation. Reconfirm the reopening before making a special journey. [2]
For an alternative, consult a currently operating venue’s own information, such as lebua’s Sky Bar page, and check the dress policy, admission arrangements and menu directly. A rooftop photograph does not reveal whether the available area is standing-only, whether dining is mandatory or whether children can enter. [8]
Budget for the experience, not only the drink
Ask whether displayed prices include service charges and tax. As an illustration of the arithmetic, a menu item marked 500 baht plus 10% service and then 7% tax becomes 588.50 baht. This is a worked example prepared on 4 October 2026, not a quoted price from a named bar. Confirm how the actual venue applies its charges.
A restaurant booking and a bar visit can have different conditions even within one hotel. Before paying a deposit, clarify the indoor fallback, the treatment of bad weather and whether a requested view is guaranteed. A covered table may preserve the meal while removing the open-air experience you expected.
A concrete Sky Bar example
At the 4 October 2026 review, lebua described Sky Bar as walk-in rather than reservable. Its published smart-casual policy allowed tailored shorts, while excluding items such as athletic wear, swimwear and flip-flops. The same page said children aged seven and above could enter Sky Bar with an adult, but other bars within the property had different age rules. Do not apply one outlet’s policy to the entire hotel. [8]
The practical lesson is to carry less and read the exact outlet’s page. lebua’s policy also excluded large luggage and said storage was unavailable. A traveller going directly from the airport with a suitcase would therefore need a separate luggage plan, even if the clothing and arrival time otherwise suited the visit. [8]
For a first evening, I would solve those details before leaving the hotel, then keep the visit flexible. A walk-in bar can be an appealing optional stop; it should not become the sole reason for an expensive cross-city transfer when a guaranteed seat is important to your group.
Live music: choose a programme and a seat
A specific example with useful limitations
The Bamboo Bar at Mandarin Oriental publishes a live-music programme, dress requirements and a no-reservations policy. Its evening arrangements include restrictions for guests under 20. Check the official page for your date rather than assuming a live band performs at the same time every night. [3]
Those conditions change how to plan: a walk-in music venue is not a guaranteed seated booking. Arrive with a nearby alternative, especially when a group needs to sit together. A person who cares most about the performance should ask where the musicians are visible, not only whether the bar has space.
Respect the kind of venue you booked
A listening room is different from a loud social bar. Keep conversation appropriate to the setting, avoid obstructing performers with phones and check photography rules. You will usually enjoy the evening more by matching the venue to the group’s mood than by choosing the most famous name.
For smaller places, read the event announcement for the date in question. A band, ticketed session and DJ set are not interchangeable promises. Verify any door charge and whether a drink is included, then save the confirmation rather than relying on a screenshot of an old promotion.

Riverside evenings and dinner cruises
The pier is part of the booking
A dinner cruise has a harder deadline than an ordinary restaurant. Identify the check-in desk, boarding pier, reporting time and sailing time separately. Allow a generous margin for finding the correct desk inside a large complex. Arriving beside the river is not the same as being checked in.
Compare indoor seating, deck access, food style, music volume and the return pier. A cheaper ticket may be a good fit, but only when its actual inclusions match your priorities. Travellers who want a quiet meal should not assume every cruise is designed for conversation.
Asiatique without an elaborate itinerary
Asiatique’s official visitor page publishes a shuttle between Sathorn and Asiatique, normally listed as 16:00-23:30 with approximate intervals of 25-30 minutes. These details were checked on 4 October 2026; weather and operational notices can change the service. They are not the timetable for every boat on the river. [4]
A simple evening there can be dinner and a preselected performance or attraction, without adding a second district. Check each attraction separately, because complex-wide opening hours do not mean that every shop, ride or restaurant operates for the entire window.
Muay Thai and other fixed-time evenings
Buy for the event you will attend
Rajadamnern Stadium publishes dated fight cards with their own gate times. Use the individual date and seating category rather than assuming a generic programme panel applies to all nights. On the review date, the website showed different arrangements across upcoming events. [5]
Choose seats according to how you want to watch. A closer view, a social atmosphere and a clearer overall perspective are different priorities. Check whether the seat is allocated, what entry includes, and the cancellation rules. A reseller’s broad description should be matched to the actual event before payment.
Leave space for the return journey
Eat beforehand unless the ticket clearly includes a suitable meal. Allow enough time to get from the entrance queue to your seat, and do not book another fixed event immediately afterwards. The end of a sporting programme may not align neatly with an optimistic onward reservation.
This is live combat sport, with noise and impacts rather than a staged cultural dance. Discuss that with children or anyone sensitive to the content before booking. A family may prefer a different evening activity, and leaving early should remain an acceptable choice.
Three realistic first-night plans
Food and an early finish
Aim for an early-evening arrival in Chinatown, an unhurried food walk and a final indoor drink or dessert. Make the last stop optional. This works well when you want the atmosphere of Bangkok after dark without committing to a late night or a formal dress code.
Keep the route compact and choose your return point before the busiest part of the evening. A sample 18:00-21:00 outing is an editorial suggestion, not a timetable or a statement that every business opens within those hours. Adjust it around actual reservations, weather and your energy.
A seated evening for two
Choose a restaurant and one music venue within a practical journey of each other. Reserve the restaurant where possible and accept that a walk-in bar may need a replacement. A hotel lounge can be a perfectly good fallback when a particular performance is full.
Use a flexible gap between dinner and the music rather than a tightly chained schedule. You are buying an enjoyable evening, not a transport challenge. Couples with different tastes can agree one shared priority and make the second stop optional.
One event with a clear finish
Book a cruise, performance or fight night, eat at a sensible time around it and return directly afterwards. This plan is especially useful for groups who would otherwise spend the evening debating their next stop. It also makes the spending commitment easier to understand.
Leave tomorrow enough room
Consider the following morning before booking a late finish. A sightseeing day with prepaid admissions, an early train or a long road transfer gives you less room for a slow start. Moving the late night to a more flexible day may improve both outings without costing anything.
Pack what you need for the next morning before leaving the hotel, especially a train confirmation or airport documents. Keep the two plans separate: the person holding tonight’s tickets should not be the only person who knows tomorrow’s departure details. Those small preparations make an enjoyable night easier to end without a scramble.
Budgeting for an evening without surprises
Separate discretionary spending from the journey home
Set aside your return-transport money before choosing another drink or activity. Then decide the maximum you are happy to spend on the evening itself. This is more useful than asking whether Bangkok nightlife is cheap, because a food-led outing and a premium rooftop dinner are not comparable products.
The allowances below are editorial planning envelopes prepared on 4 October 2026, per adult, not verified venue quotations. They exclude accommodation, shopping and substantial alcohol consumption. Check current menus and ticket totals for your chosen date.
| Evening style | Suggested allowance | What it is intended to cover |
|---|---|---|
| Food-led outing | 600-1,200 baht | Several modest food stops, soft drinks and a transport margin |
| Dinner and one seated bar | 1,500-3,000 baht | A sit-down meal, limited drinks and a ride back |
| Premium or ticketed evening | 2,500-5,000+ baht | A higher-priced meal or event, extras and transport |
Ask about the unit being priced
A tour can quote per person, while a transfer quotes per vehicle and a table package quotes for a group. Write down the unit before comparing totals. Children, extra passengers, luggage and overtime may change the final price.
Where a deposit is required, read both the refund deadline and the local time zone. Keep the confirmation and exact meeting instructions offline. Paying more for terms you understand can be better value than a small saving on a booking you cannot change when weather or flight delays intervene.
Getting home: the plan that makes the night easier
Last train is a route question
BTS publishes first- and last-service information, but the relevant answer depends on your departure station, destination and any interchange. Do not infer that a station’s broad opening window guarantees a train to every endpoint. Check the actual journey before relying on rail for a late return. [6]
Allow time to enter the station and find the correct platform. Leaving a bar at the time a train departs is not a workable connection. When the remaining margin becomes uncertain, choose another safe return option rather than running through unfamiliar crossings.
Make the car pickup unambiguous
Save your accommodation’s name, map pin and address in Thai where available. Confirm that the vehicle and driver match the booking, and wait somewhere visible without blocking traffic. A hotel entrance, supervised pickup area or clearly identified side-street landmark is easier than an imprecise main-road location.
The FCDO recommends arranging transport home rather than accepting lifts in unlicensed vehicles. Keep enough phone battery for that journey, with the address and a second contact method available offline. A portable charger is useful only when it is charged and the correct cable is in your bag. [7]
Personal safety without making the evening anxious
Keep control of the basics
Keep your drink with you and do not accept an unattended drink or one from a stranger. The FCDO warns about drink spiking and advises advance transport planning. Feeling suddenly unwell is a reason to get help, not to let an unfamiliar person take you away from your companions. [7]
Agree a meeting point in case your group separates. Share only the information you need with new acquaintances, and avoid displaying a large amount of cash. Before paying, read the menu and ask about entry or service charges that were not clear when you arrived.
Respond calmly when something feels wrong
You do not owe a promoter an explanation for declining an invitation. Stay in public areas, leave a venue when uncomfortable and ask staff at an established business for help. Avoid escalating an argument about a bill in an unfamiliar setting; keep evidence and seek appropriate assistance instead.
Thailand’s Tourist Police assistance number is 1155. Save it before an outing, along with your accommodation’s contact details. This is a support contact, not a substitute for urgent local emergency help when somebody is injured or seriously unwell. [10]
Age rules, alcohol restrictions and venue etiquette
Do not rely on old drinking-hours advice
TAT’s May 2026 update sets out a general alcohol-sales window of 11:00-24:00, with different conditions for some authorised venues and restrictions during designated periods. It also states that the legal drinking age is 20. The once-common blanket claim about an afternoon retail-sales ban is therefore not an adequate current summary. [1]
That does not mean every bar can serve until any time it chooses. A business’s licence, location and current rules matter. Carry appropriate identification and follow the venue’s requirements; a phone photograph of identification may not satisfy its door policy.
Treat the people around you as people, not scenery
Ask before photographing staff, performers or strangers at close range. Follow restrictions during performances and avoid intrusive images of anyone who appears intoxicated. Good nightlife etiquette includes respecting residents, not only the businesses that welcome visitors.
Dress requirements vary. Smart footwear and long trousers may be necessary at some hotel venues, while casual clothing suits other settings. Read the current rule before travelling across town, and keep the night flexible when the outfit you packed does not meet it.
Booking online: compare the same evening, not similar titles
Build a small comparison before paying
Open the operator information and the booking description side by side. Match the date, starting point, duration and inclusions. Two products called Bangkok night tour might involve entirely different neighbourhoods, vehicles and meal arrangements. The phrase hotel pickup is also incomplete without the pickup boundary and the time you must be ready.
For a cruise, compare the named vessel and sailing, not only a photograph of the river. With a performance, match the seating zone and whether dinner is included. For a food tour, establish whether the food is paid for or whether the guide only takes you to places where you buy it yourself.
Understand what happens when the plan changes
Read the cancellation deadline in the booking’s stated local time. Distinguish a traveller cancellation from an operator cancellation and from a weather substitution. A tour that still runs with an altered route may not automatically qualify for the refund you imagined. Ask the provider before paying when that distinction matters to you.
Keep one record containing the booking reference, meeting instructions and provider contact. Download it rather than assuming mobile coverage inside a building or beside a crowded pier. Give another person in the group a copy, so one flat phone does not prevent everyone checking in.
Solo travellers and groups need different arrangements
Going out alone without surrendering flexibility
A solo traveller may value a defined food walk or a seated performance more than an open-ended bar crawl. Look for an activity with a public meeting point, a clear finishing area and recent information about group size. A description promising new friends is not a substitute for knowing where the tour ends.
Decide how you will leave independently. Keep your accommodation details private unless there is a reason to share them, and retain control of your bag, payment method and phone. A pleasant conversation does not create an obligation to follow someone to another venue. Your evening can be sociable while still remaining your own plan.
Keep group decisions simple
Before dinner, agree whether everyone will split the bill equally or pay for individual orders. Check table minimums against the number of people who actually intend to stay. Someone leaving early should not discover that they committed to an expensive late-night package simply by sitting down.
Choose one person to hold the booking reference, but share it with the rest of the group. Set a regrouping point away from the busiest doorway. When tastes differ, splitting into smaller groups can work better than dragging everyone through an evening designed for nobody in particular.
Rain, accessibility and a more comfortable evening
Replace a plan rather than fighting the conditions
A heavy shower can change a rooftop visit, a riverside boarding route or a food walk. Prefer a nearby indoor alternative over a long cross-city detour. TAT’s late-September travel update is a dated situation report, so check the latest local information rather than treating it as a forecast for your evening. [9]
For step-free access, ask a venue about the entrance, lift, toilets and seating arrangement. A lift to a hotel lobby does not establish that the last flight to a rooftop is accessible. Similarly, a pier may be reached by steps even when the surrounding complex has accessible entrances.
Build the evening around the least flexible need
A guest needing a seat, a quieter environment or a shorter walk should not have to negotiate those basics after arrival. State the requirement when booking and ask for a specific answer. A vague reassurance that everyone is welcome does not describe the route or facilities.
An early dinner and a seated performance can be a fuller evening than several short stops. Comfortable plans create room for enjoyment, especially when the group includes different ages, energy levels or mobility needs.
Pros and cons of planning your first night
What a little structure gives you
Choosing one district reduces avoidable journeys and helps everyone understand the cost. A single main booking gives the night direction, while an optional second stop leaves room for weather and tiredness. You are also more likely to choose suitable clothing and transport when the plan is specific.
What overplanning takes away
A fully prepaid chain of dinner, rooftop, cruise and club turns ordinary delays into problems. You lose the ability to stay somewhere you like or leave somewhere you do not. An ambitious itinerary can also make the person with the lowest energy feel responsible for spoiling it.
The practical balance is one anchor, one fallback and a protected journey home. Keep the rest loose. First-time visitors do not need to prove that they have seen every version of Bangkok at night.
Common mistakes to avoid
Booking a famous name without checking its notice
Venue websites should be checked close to the outing, not only when you first make your trip notes. Renovation, private events and changing programmes can invalidate a familiar recommendation. The Moon Bar closure is a concrete example of why an apparently current roundup is not enough. [2]
Treating every inclusion as the same product
A cruise with a buffet, a rooftop table with minimum spend and a general admission ticket have different value. Compare what you will actually receive, not only the headline price. Verify drinks, seating, transfers and cancellation individually.
Planning the night around somebody else’s tolerance
A loud venue is not automatically enjoyable, and a quiet evening is not a wasted opportunity. Agree an exit plan, avoid pressuring companions to drink and make it easy for someone to return early. Good company and a manageable pace matter more than the number of places visited.
Frequently asked questions
Which area is easiest for a first evening?
Start with a suitable place near your hotel. Lower Sukhumvit often offers a practical restaurant-and-bar combination, while Chinatown suits a food-led evening. For a specific performance or riverside dinner, choose the venue first and work backwards through the journey. Convenience is about your actual route, not a universal winning neighbourhood.
Can I enjoy Bangkok nightlife without drinking?
Yes. Food walks, selected performances, Muay Thai, evening dining and city views can all form the main event. Check admission and minimum-spend conditions at bars, because ordering a soft drink does not necessarily remove a table commitment. Build the night around the activity you want rather than treating alcohol as a requirement.
Should I reserve a rooftop in advance?
Read the particular venue’s policy. Some restaurant tables are reservable, while a bar area may operate differently. Ask about weather cancellation, dress requirements and whether seating or a specific view is guaranteed. Do not book a rooftop that remains closed for renovation simply because a third-party listing still appears online.
How late does public transport run?
There is no single last-train time that answers every journey. Check the operator’s station and direction information, including any interchange, and allow time to reach the platform. Boats are separate services with their own schedules. Decide on a safe alternative before the margin for your planned return becomes too small. [6]
Is a guided nightlife tour worth it?
It can be worthwhile when it solves a clear problem: unfamiliar food ordering, a well-defined performance booking or a social evening with transparent inclusions. Read the itinerary for walking distance, venue substitutions and transport home. Avoid paying for a vague promise of exclusive access when the actual places and conditions are unclear.
What should I wear for an evening out?
Match the outfit to the strictest venue you intend to enter. Check shoes, trousers, sleeveless clothing and bag restrictions. For a food walk, comfortable footwear and a practical rain layer matter more than formality. A spare smart layer is useful, but it cannot compensate for footwear that a venue explicitly refuses.
How much should I set aside?
Use a current menu or dated event quote, then add transport and a modest contingency. The example allowances in this guide are planning envelopes prepared on 4 October 2026, not live offers. Separate per-person prices from per-table or per-vehicle charges so a group can compare the full bill before agreeing.
The first-night plan I would choose
For an undecided first-time visitor, I would keep dinner and the main evening stop within one manageable area, make the second stop optional and arrange the return before leaving the hotel. That is a planning recommendation based on logistics, not a claim that one district is objectively best.
Choose Chinatown when food is the priority, a convenient Sukhumvit pairing when the group wants options, or a clearly researched seated venue when comfort matters most. Save a big ticketed evening for a day when you are rested and confident about the journey.
Most importantly, allow the evening to end well. Leaving while everyone is still comfortable is better than adding a distant final stop merely because it appears on a list. Bangkok will still have another kind of night waiting the next time you visit.
